Art and childhood meet in many points. One of them is the ability to transform reality into something else by reformulating it, questioning it, expanding it. Cecilia Vicuña: Spin Spin Triangulene is the first solo exhibition in a New York museum for the pioneering contemporary Chilean artist, poet, activist, and filmmaker Cecilia Vicuña (b. 1948, Santiago). Showcasing Vicuña’s artistic production from the late 1960s to today, this exhibition will feature the breadth of her multidisciplinary practice, including paintings, works on paper, textiles, films, a site-specific Quipu (Knot) installation, a one-time performance of a “living” Quipu, and new paintings and works on paper created specifically for this presentation.

Through painting, Sandra Gamarra Heshiki (Lima, Peru, 1972) questions the representation mechanisms of the art system and the museum as an ideological device. He resorts to copying to make available certain cultural artifacts that have been extracted from their contexts within the framework of the modern-colonial regime. The artist adopts a syncretic gaze where pre-Columbian, colonial, modern and contemporary material productions come into friction.

Sicardi | Ayers | Bacino is pleased to announce Antológica, a retrospective exhibition for gallery artist Graciela Hasper (b. 1966, Argentina) at the Museo Provincial de Bellas Artes Franklin Rawson in San Juan, Argentina. 

The Hamburger Bahnhof is holding an exhibition entitled Under Construction, which will present the latest additions to the Nationalgalerie collection. The museum has been able to acquire these new objects over the past few years thanks in large part to funding from the Freunde der Nationalgalerie.

This is the first solo exhibition in the United States dedicated to Geles Cabrera, who is one of the most prominent female sculptors of her country. Geles Cabrera: Museo Escultórico will feature artwork created over 40 years of her career and will be on view from June 8 through July 30, 2022.
